Newcomers in Amsterdam often face social isolation and stress due to language, cultural, and bureaucratic barriers. Existing language courses help with communication but do not provide enough opportunities for meaningful social interaction. Many newcomers, especially in Nieuw-West, are eager to build connections and already engage in community sports. To address this, Culture Connect proposes a WhatsApp-based platform where newcomers and locals can initiate informal social and recreational activities together. As the community grows, partnerships with cultural and sports venues will enable structured, low-cost activities that remain accessible to all.
